So my boy Kenny brought us to this very unique British beer pub in Park Slope called the Chip Shop. They specialise in frying just about anything, Beer, and Whiskey! The menu although in English was still a bit confusing, but only because I was unfamiliar with the Brits terminology.
so out food orders were as follows:
*Side note: Next time your at Wegmans (or any other grocery store) go in the international section. Under Europe you will find a small can that says "Spotted Dick" made by Heinz, and by the picture on the front I swore it was cabbage.*
(Back to the story) So we asked our waiter about this "spotted dick" and as he answered he demonstrated how he usually embarasses people that ask this question by yelling "SPOTTED DICK" across the resturant. But he went on to explain that this is actually a very traditional English dessert. He described it as a pound cake, but really it was more of a sponge cake with rasins in it and a hot vanillia custard over top. But we decided to order the Treacle (same thing with out rasins)... Honestly I wasn't very fond of it. They flavors were good, but the texture and the rich custard just weren't hitting me right, Jessica didn't really care for it either (we were sharing). Kenny LOVED it though!
Oh but the beer selection is pretty great. I had a pumpkin brewed beer it was really great and tasted very fresh!
