I don't know what "Cibon" means but it sure was good!
688 Park Ave.
Rochester, NY
It was actually quite and unfortunate circumstance that I ended up at this great resturant.
I happened to be in Rochester, NY visiting my little cousin who was sick at Stong Memorial Children's Hospital. But this just goes to show that good food can comfort even the most depressing situations.
I'll just tell you a little on Kendal...he has this syndrome that I've never heard of before that affects his kidneys and causes them to filter out the good and keep the bad...he's only 5! But i will say he's a soldier and his chin is up high!
So we were leaving the hospital and wanted to grab some dinner, so my cousin and her husband suggested this french resturant that they love... CIBON
It was so ... so posh inside. Red walls with chocolate brown molding brown leather backing to the benches; and molded copper table tops with voltive candles. It was a very intimate setting great for a date. There is even one table that has a great BIG window facing the busy street (great for people watching); and you know how I love a great big window while I dine.
The first thing my cousin said when he suggested this resturant was
Your gonna get a great cup of coffee here...and oh man was he right... The coffee was ... well GREAT! It was a very full, well rounded flavor, not to dark of a roast, but deffinately tasted like coffee. For a cup of coffee it was $1.75 ( and folks that's no refills) That was my first complaint: in this economy where i can go to starbucks/ Dunkin donuts and get a decent cup of cofffee with about six more ounces per capita, I need at least one refill...especially when the coffee is that good...its like they were teasing me. And teasings not nice, although it does make me come back for more!
So for dinner my parents each got a pizza. My mom's had a little bit of a Mexican flare, and my dad's had shrimp and goat cheese on it. They were both great. My cousin and her hubby shared a pizza, which was actually a panini that she asked them to make into a pizza which was also very good, and came with a mixed greens salad in a balsamic dressing.
But for my dinner I got the Mediteranen Pasta($12)...which was artichokes, sundried tomatoes, goat cheese and katamala olives. I added Italian sausage ($4) and it was all topped with a very light lemon herb sauce....Sounds great huh...that's probably because it was.
Now I must also say that our food did take quite awhile to come to the table and they were not very busy. And I'm positive it was impatience because we were having a great conversation and then just realized,"hey our food, where is it?" But our table justified the lenghty wait by the freshness of the food, quality takes time...remember that!
Overall I can't wait to bring more family and friends to visit Cibon... Overall what can I say, other than you need to go!
